What home accounting is kept for

Home accounting is intended for recording and optimizing the financial flows of a family budget. This is possible because it performs the following functions:

  • income accounting – when keeping home accounting, all income received is strictly recorded regardless of its source;

  • expense accounting – all expenses made in the current period must be recorded in special financial reporting; it is important to keep them as detailed as possible, which allows more accurate analysis and planning;

  • financial planning means spending according to a pre-calculated plan, which is drawn up on the basis of the actual costs of the previous period;

  • analysis of financial reporting is one of the most important functions of home accounting; it lets you identify the strengths and weaknesses of the budget and make changes to expense and income items of subsequent periods.

Thanks to these functions you will not only know exactly how much money goes where, but will also be able to find better ways to invest it. The main rule: income must exceed expenses. If such an inequality results when preparing the reports, it means the financial flows are in order. If income equals expenses, the financial flows are too passive. To activate them you need either to increase the income side or, which is more likely, to reduce expenses.
When expenses prevail over income, this is the first warning that they must be reduced, because negative figures lead to a decline in the family's well-being.
If you have managed to stabilize your financial flows and bring them to a positive result, income will be higher than expenses, and the resulting difference can be used for more profitable purposes or investments. A targeted savings fund can be created from these funds. Put simply, you set money aside for a set goal: buying a new apartment, appliances, a family holiday, etc.
Also, a reserve savings fund can be created from the difference between income and expenses, that is, setting money aside for an unforeseen vitally important case, because life is full of surprises and it is very good to have a certain reserve of funds to solve sudden financial problems.
The best use of "surpluses" is to earn passive income. That is, the simplest thing you can do is put the money in a bank on a deposit account. This will let you increase your income.
Which way of using the free funds of the family budget is best? Proper keeping of online home accounting will help you decide.
